Students Treated to Professional Development Workshop alongside Concerts and Masterclasses at Third Day of ClaviCologne 2026

The ClaviCologne International Piano Festival continued in Pescara on Thursday 6th August, as participants entered the third day of this year’s intensive programme of masterclasses, concerts, workshops, and artistic exchange.

Taking place at the Conservatory of Music “Luisa D’Annunzio”, the 13th edition of the festival is being led by President Konstantin Ishkhanov and Artistic Director Giuliano Mazzoccante. Over the course of the week, the festival is bringing together young pianists from around the world to study with leading international professors, perform for their peers, and take part in a wider programme designed to support both their musical and professional development.

This third day featured another full schedule of piano masterclasses led by several members of ClaviCologne’s distinguished faculty, including Michel Béroff (France), Milana Chernyavska (Germany/Ukraine), Pietro De Maria (Italy), Pavel Gililov (Austria), Giuliano Mazzoccante (Italy), and Hisako Kawamura (Japan). Throughout the day, students continued to benefit from individual guidance on interpretation, technique, musical character, and performance approach, building on the work begun during the opening days of the festival.

Additionally, alongside the masterclasses, the festival’s Lunchtime Concert Series continued with performances by Can Sakkaoglu, Iana Batina, Igor Sidorov, Ryuzo Seko, and Jinjoo Baek. The series has become an important part of the daily rhythm of ClaviCologne, giving young artists the chance to share their work in a supportive setting while also learning from the performances of fellow participants.

Finally, early in the evening, the students got to enjoy what turned out to be the special highlight of the day, as renowned maestro Alan Chircop led a professional workshop, entitled Professional Pianist: The Holistic Approach. Designed to complement the festival’s masterclass programme, the session invited students to reflect on the broader realities of life as a musician, looking beyond the notes themselves to consider the artistic, personal, and professional dimensions of a pianist’s development.

The workshop formed part of ClaviCologne’s wider commitment to offering participants a complete academy experience. Alongside world-class instruction and performance opportunities, the festival continues to introduce students to practical insights and professional perspectives that can support their growth both on and off the stage.
