Young Pianists Continue Their ClaviCologne Journey with More Workshops and Masterclasses

The ClaviCologne International Piano Festival continued its 13th edition in Pescara on Wednesday 5th August, offering participants another full day of musical study and performances at the city’s historic Conservatory of Music “Luisa D’Annunzio”.

Presented under the guidance of President Konstantin Ishkhanov and Artistic Director Giuliano Mazzoccante, this latest iteration of ClaviCologne is bringing together young pianists from across the globe for an intensive programme of masterclasses, concerts, workshops, and special activities along Italy’s Adriatic coast.

Building on the success of Tuesday’s events, this second day featured a busy schedule of piano masterclasses led by several members of the festival’s distinguished international faculty, including Michel Béroff (France), Milana Chernyavska (Germany/Ukraine), Pietro De Maria (Italy), Pavel Gililov (Austria), Giuliano Mazzoccante (Italy), and Hisako Kawamura (Japan). Across the day, students continued to receive individual guidance from these renowned artists and pedagogues, working on questions of interpretation, technique, musical expression, and performance preparation.

Alongside the masterclasses, the festival’s Lunchtime Concert Series offered another opportunity for participants to share their artistry with fellow students, professors, and guests. The day’s programme featured performances by Šimon Čermák, Marko Zivkovic, Min-Chieh Lee, Leah Panasevich, and Naoya Fujiwara, continuing one of the central aims of ClaviCologne, which is to create an environment in which young musicians can learn not only through instruction, but also through listening, performing, and exchanging ideas with their peers.

Moreover, the day also included two special activities designed to expand the participants’ experience beyond the traditional masterclass format. In the early morning, students took part in a Sunrise Beach Workshop at Spiaggia Libera, combining body awareness, breathing techniques, and musical freedom in a picturesque seaside setting. Then, later in the day, the young pianists attended a special lecture with Fabbrini’s Concert Technician at the Conservatory itself, designed to help them gain a valuable insight into their instrument and the technical craftsmanship that supports high-level piano performance.

Now, as the festival now moves towards its midway point, more masterclasses, lectures, and special events await participants in the days ahead, with ClaviCologne 2026 continuing to promise a rich programme designed to support the artistic growth of the young stars that will one day become the maestros of our future!
